Oh, The Chaos

I was only able to last 2 months as a Camp Host at a local National Forest Campground. I had the intention of trying to make it the entire season (till December), but that simply would not have worked out. It was not the amount of work involved, per say, but more of a lack of structure and order that created the chaotic atmosphere, that eventually, took it’s toll.

I have been told by other campers, who have traveled all across the United States, that Camp Hosting generally does not work the way they have it setup here at this park. The nepotism and cronyism that was pervasive in my particular experience is less of an issue (and often not an issue at all) since they have clearly defined expectations as it relates to rules and duties.

The fellow Camp Hosts that I met were genuinely some of the nicest and most giving people I’ve ever met. Some were among the hardest workers I have ever met as well. Even at 70 years of age. The opportunity did gave me a chance to get in better physical shape, which was one of the primary reasons I wanted to give it a try in the first place.

I thank them all, very much, for that.

I do have a plan that I think God would be happy if I pursued. I am working through all the details of that now, while simultaneously finishing up on a divorce after being married (once) for 36 years. Ironically, or perhaps as one would suspect, an experience observed here at the campground, that permeates the western world as well, is one of the factors that played into my decision to go ahead with what many would consider ‘crazy’, or taking an enormous risk, especially at this phase of my life.

I will follow up with a post detailing that plan, the reasoning behind it, and what I foresee in my future. Above all, I understand that God has the final say so about that, and in everything.

Stick around for that if curious.
